Business Owners

"DiamondNine supported me to be proactive, think that things are possible, and helped me discover a way to make plans and ideas happen."

Looking to get a better grip of what’s going on as your business grows?

As a business owner, do you find yourself wishing there were more hours in the day?

Are you often running around after your team, wasting time duplicating effort, wanting them to take more responsibility, but concerned that they will make mistakes and cost you money?

At DiamondNine we coach business owners who are looking for clarity in how to drive success.

We help you to improve on leadership skills and gain better understanding in how to organise people, roles and responsibilities. We help you to ensure your team share your focus and passion for your business, and ultimately provide support to you and your team to help them become high performing.

Most importantly, we coach you how to make change stick. You’ll develop the skills to be able to make tangible, permanent improvements to your business. Ultimately, you’ll improve efficiency, increase profitability and find more time for the things that are important to you.

How do we do it?

We follow a 6 step process, developed over 30 years of working in people leadership and management.

We know that no two businesses – and no two business owners – are the same. What’s most important to us, is really getting to know the intricacies of you and your business, and designing a bespoke solution for you.

We’ve included a rough outline below, to give you an idea of what working with DiamondNine looks like.

Step 1.

DISCOVER

We meet for a virtual coffee – an initial catch up over the phone or via video chat. We’ll discuss you, your business, and your team to understand what you think is getting in the way of better performance. We will be completely open about if, and how,  Diamond Nine can support your business. If like us, we can help and you, then we will move to work alongside you on stage 2 and beyond.

Step 2.

DIAGNOSE

Here we get to really understand your opportunities and challenges. We’ll talk about ambitions, challenges, and past mistakes and how this impacts you and your business. We will outline approaches designed to help you learn and improve outcomes.

We’ll take away what we’ve learnt during our initial conversation, and we’ll gather further information. We sometimes use tools such as Lumina Spark and Lumina Leader to provide a unique portrait of you as a business leader and discover practical actions to help improve your business leadership. We’ll discuss this feedback which can take place virtually or more often face to face with you.

Step 3.

DESIGN

We’ll work together with you, to tailor a  package of support for you and your business. We will help you look at how well your operational outcomes/performance and your local internal processes aligns with your business purpose. We’ll look at the key areas you want to develop and the important issues you want to resolve. We will help you create a plan for how to implement the change. There’ll be options to add personal development programmes for both you, and your employees.

Step 4.

DELIVER

Over an agreed period, we’ll provide the coaching and facilitation you need in order to action the plan we’ve created together. We’ll agree a process of regular contact to check in on you and your business to discuss and review the progress being made and encourage experimentation and learning. We’ll also work on any personal development points identified earlier in the process. Our support will be both through calls/video chats and face to face visits arranged to fit around your schedule.

Step 5.

DEVELOP

Once we’ve started to implement the improvements to your business, we’ll take a step back to look at the changes. We’ll review the things that are working well, and refine the plan if things need changing further. We’ll continue to work with you and help to facilitate the change within your business. We’re available for as long as you feel you need the support to make the change stick.

Step 6.

DEBRIEF

Mutual feedback and learning is a corner stone of our own approach to delivering great support to our clients. We will take time out during our working collaboration with you to ensure that we are focused on the right things and delivering what we promised. In turn we will give you feedback on our experience of working with you and your business, and all designed to deliver better outcomes.

What does coaching for business owners look like?

Business Oriented

Being clear about the purpose of your business and having clarity about what underpins your vision is critical. Successful organisations work constantly at maintaining their focus and live their values.

Colleagues love to work in roles that give them chance to shine, where they feel supported encouraged, and see themselves as part of the business. Developing and maintaining values and behaviours that help everyone to be at their best will bring increased success and improve your bottom line.

Aligning roles and responsibilities, defining processes that work well in a growing business is critically important. Businesses often grow organically, and  we don’t always see the unintended consequences and impact of growth on business efficiency. Understanding the nature of demand within your business and designing against demand delivers better outcomes.

Bringing your plans to life, implementing change, and delivering great customer service can be a bit of a minefield.

We help leaders to develop their organisations to deliver better outcomes.

Successful  businesses develop an agility to learn and respond to changes within their environment and to keep ahead of the game. Successful leaders engage with a cycle of personal learning through experimentation that helps them to make informed choices about business change. Coaching others to engage and be curious about improvement is an important component of effective change.

People Oriented

Aligning operational performance measures with business goals and using the data to learn and improve is an important part of a business leader’s role. Setting clear outcomes and engaging employees in understanding and using workplace information will drive business improvement and help realise the potential in your team.

Communicating a clear sense of direction, and actively supporting colleagues to deliver their best performance is an essential part of your leadership. Developing an authentic environment that encourages colleagues to positively engage in the smooth operation and future development of the business underpins your future success.

Recruiting, retaining, and developing skilled employees with the right mindset to help drive your business forward is critically important. The operational needs of the business can mean that the right level of attention is not paid to developing and retaining employees to help business growth.

Focusing resources on developing people to meet the current and future needs of an organisation results from clarity about direction and the pace of implementation. Identifying key strengths, and gaps in capability will improve business outcomes.

Having  the right pay and benefits package in place that supports the organisation’s purpose and ambition is an important part of your business strategy. Decisions about business structure, job roles, and reward mechanisms will all impact bottom line performance, and affect the way in which employees are attracted, engage, and are retained.
